Free RPG Day!

Today is Free RPG Day! Head out to your Friendly Local Game Store and pick up some cool stuff, try out a new game, and buy the father in your life that Father’s Day present you’ve been putting off. Dads love RPGs!
I’ll be at Active Imagination in Albuquerque later today. If things go well, I may be running a demo of the new Rogue Trader! If you haven’t played recently and are thinking about RPGing again, this is a great way to dip your toes in a great hobby for free!
So, I ran Rogue Trader, and played Geist. Rogue Trader seems like a fun game. Take Serenity, and mix in cyberpunk Lovecraft for that 40K flavor. I think the system is the same as Dark Heresy. Geist is the new White Wolf game, the new incarnation of Wraith. I liked it OK. Wraith always seemed like a stupid game to me – “I float over there. I haplessly fail to interact with the physical world over here…” but they’ve fixed it like they fixed Changeling. You’re not a ghost anymore – you’ve GOT a ghost subletting you.
Rogue Trader seemed amusing from what I saw. I think the whole day would have worked better if they had been a little (or a lot) more enthusiastic about selling it to people coming in. Hard to get gamers if you don’t even hint that more than what’s already happening might be going on at some point.
