Old About Page
This post is the old “About” page. I’m writing a new About page and thought I should preserve the old one. If you’ve read it before, skip this and try the new About the Site and About the Game pages. If not, why not read them all? Seriously, what else have you got to do?
So what am I doing? What earthshaking undertaking could possibly warrant the addition of one more single node to the blogosphere? What could possibly be so new and exciting? Actually, it’s old. But it is exciting, to me at least. I’m writing an RPG. It’s old because I’ve been working on RPGs for quite a while – at least four or five years now. But this time, it’s different.
It’s different because I’m actually happy with it. It’s different because I’m actually writing it instead of just thinking about it and making random notes. It’s different because I’ve playtested it twice instead of just threatening my loyal gaming group with it. These are all the differences that have made me want to record my progress from wherever I am to wherever I’m going.
I thought that I’d enjoy watching the process of turning a handful of principles into a game system, and that someone else might enjoy it, too. So here it is, your chance (or one of many), to follow along with an aspiring game designer through the ups and downs of game creation. I think I’ll have fun, and I hope someone else finds it interesting or entertaining, too.
Simply put, Ultrablamtacular is the as-it-happens story of one man’s game design aspirations.
