Brief Update
Hey, I know the blog’s been quiet lately, but that doesn’t mean nothing is going on! Read on if you’d like the up-to-the minute info on Ultrablamtacular progress.
First of all, I’ve added an example of setting creation to the new setting section. I’ve also been busy trying to get some of the wiki skeleton updated.
Remember the wiki? I think only I have been there, as of yet. But that’s OK. It’s still only open to playtesters, but the number of playtesters is getting set to go up soon.
Speaking of playtesters, I got a great response from my FLGS regarding doing playtesting there. Thanks, Robert!
And last, but by no means least, I started reading up on book design and took my first baby steps towards making Ultrablamtacular a book instead of just a bunch of words. Don’t suppose there are any designers out there who are just itching to layout an RPG? For free? Huh. Didn’t think so. Well, if you change your mind, lemme know.
Oh, and having tried to make the name of the game look good when used in sentences, I also decided to drop the exclamation point from the title. I still think the game is Ultrablamtacular! but the name is now just Ultrablamtacular (no exclamation point) or Ultrablam for short. I’ll still use the exclamation for logos and the site header and stuff, but it’s just too cumbersome to use in text. Blah.

Well, some of us might have popped on the wiki. Once or twice…
Unfortunately, I agree with you on the exclamation point. I like it… but it’s especially rough-seeming when ending a sentence.
@Zach
Glad to know you’re looking at the wiki! I hope to have the new example setting, Planetary Patrol, up there soon! Thanks for the support on the exclamation. Who’d have thought it would be a hard decision?
What! Exclamation! points can be distracting!?
It looks really cool even in its basic layout! Like when we got first comic pages back with the words on them–or seeing a movie on the big screen.
!!
@Jona Kottler
Yeah – it’s pretty cool, huh? I got some of that “Oh my god, it’s gonna be real” feeling when i started printing pages.
Even though they don’t look that great yet, I’m pretty happy with the direction I’m moving in.
