I Have Invented a Word
That word is “Bawsome.”
It’s boss. It’s awesome. It’s bawsome.
That is all.

Huge weekend for work. First editing comments back from Jona, and first copies out to playtesters. This marks the first time that anyone has read these rules but me. It’s sort of a big moment for me.
My current non metric? 18,218. And the rules summary was removed and put into its own file, too.
Phew.
Hello, playtesting-type folks. I’m trying to put together a page on what makes Ultrablamtacular! special. I know it might sound like I’m just fishing for compliments, but really, I’m looking for some help describing Ultrablam! to an audience that’s never played it.
I’ve put the things that I came up with here. If you have anything to add, change, or disagree with, please comment here or drop me an email. Thanks! Read more…
Micro update: word count is now 17,193.
This reflects the really big wordectomy I knew was coming.
Allow me to pull back the curtain on exactly how geeky I can be. While making the recent decision about difficulty, I made a spreadsheet. With a graph. Read more…
After a weekend filled with pretty much nothing, last night was a good night, progress-wise. Got what I think are all of the remaining notes to myself out of the main text and into a separate file, got a bunch of formatting done, got what I think are all the ripples from the change in difficulty taken care of (except the character sheet), and got a bunch of initial formatting taken care of. I expect to get proofreading copies out to my whitewashing crew tonight!
I have a very specific question about Ultrablamtacular! that I will be trying to answer during the next playtest session. Is the game, as it stands, simply too easy? Read more…
Early in the existance of this blog, I wrote a post about writing tools. I have been happily using Notepad++ since then, writing in the Markdown format. It was useful – it served the purpose I required of not distracting me with what the text looked like while I was trying to get out the spine of the game. But that time, I think has passed, and so now I’m trying to get out of Markdown and into a word processor, without much luck at all so far. Read more…
I’ve been trying to come up with a name for this game I’m working on. I’ve done online polling – twice. I’ve asked all my friends and playtesters. The answer is here, it’s final, and it’s a surprise – even to me. Read more…
You know how when you buy a video game, you just drop it in and start playing? How you don’t have to read the manual before you can start having fun? That’s what I’m trying to accomplish with the “Tutorial Level” that finally got started this weekend.
If it does what I hope it’ll do, it will teach players and GMs alike how the game works in an interactive, painless fashion. It’ll be something I can use at playtests, conventions, demos, and similar events.
Does anyone know of another RPG that teaches players and GMs how to use each system and mechanic? I’d like to see them if anyone knows of them.
I don’t have a word count at the moment. Next time.
